Country Roads Planter

When I got my first car in high school, I loved driving out past the farms up into the rolling hills outside of town, so this piece feels deeply nostalgic to me. It also sends me back to the jigsaw puzzles I loved as a kid, many featuring the folk artwork of Charles Wysocki and scenes of everyday American life from another era.

And of course inspiration also comes from Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver. Now that I live 3,000 miles from where I grew up, the lyrics speak to me louder than ever.

I carefully, painstakingly hand carved the details on this planter. I love carving into clay and the feeling of running your fingers across the etched-in lines on the finished piece. I've also added drainage holes to this pot to keep your plant happy.
